Senior Remote Sensing and Geoinformation Associate
Sravan Shrestha is a Senior Associate–Remote Sensing and Geoinformation for ICIMOD’s work on Managing Cryosphere and Water Risks and also leads the work on Agriculture and Food Security thematic area of the SERVIR-HKH. He works on disaster risk reduction and loss and damage assessments, specifically on crop monitoring, food security, and agriculture-related climate risk management services. Sravan joined ICIMOD in 2019.
Prior to this, he worked as Research Associate for the Institute for Social and Environmental Transition, Nepal (ISET-Nepal) on disaster risk reduction, climate change vulnerability and impact assessments, and developing climate and food security indicators. He also worked with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippines, where he conducted crop monitoring and rice field identification using remote sensing data.
Sravan holds a master’s degree (MSc) in Geoinformation Science and Earth Observation from ITC, the University of Twente. He served as a Faculty Council Member of ITC for one year.
