Senior Air Quality Specialist
Bhupesh Adhikary works as a Senior Air Quality Specialist and serves as ICIMOD’s Climate Action Lead.
He has over two decades of experience in air quality and climate change science. He has been working on understanding the science and mitigation aspects of air pollution in the Hindu Kush Himalaya region using chemical transport models, in-situ, and satellite-based observations. Bhupesh has contributed to the Sixth Assessment Report of the Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as lead author (Working Group I contribution).
Prior to ICIMOD, he worked for the EvK2CNR Committee as their resident scientific coordinator, and as assistant professor for Kathmandu University, teaching graduate and undergraduate students.
Bhupesh holds a PhD and an MSc in Chemical Engineering from the USA, and a dual bachelors degree in Economics and Chemical Engineering.
