Remote Sensing and Geoinformation Analyst - SERVIR
Sajana Maharjan is a Remote Sensing and Geo-information Analyst for ICIMOD’s work on Restoring and Regenerating Landscapes. She works for ecosystem and carbon management particularly, in the land cover monitoring system, forest carbon monitoring, and natural capital accounting.
She joined ICIMOD in 2015 and has more than a decade of experience in natural resources management.
Previously, Sajana worked for the Forest Resources Assessment Nepal, a bilateral project of the Governments of Nepal and Finland. She also contributed to environmental impact studies of development projects (road, bridge, hydropower, transmission line, and sub-station).
She is a Principal Investigator for the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) research project on ‘Mapping aboveground forest carbon stocks using ALOS PALSAR time series in Nepal and Bangladesh.’
Sajana holds a master’s degree (MSc) in Geo-information Science and Earth Observation, with a specialization in natural resources management, from ITC, University of Twente, The Netherlands.
